Members How we help our members

Our members come from all walks of life, all age groups and ethnic backgrounds.

Here are some examples of how we have been able to help our members to achieve financial stability.

Members with debt problems

Here are two examples of how we have helped members with large debt repayments to rebalance their finances and improve their lives.

A lady from Brighton, who is employed, was granted a loan of £4000 to clear payday loans - her repayments dropped from £1200 per month to £300 per month giving her a much higher disposable income and financial piece of mind.

A member came to us for a £4000 loan to clear most of his credit card debts. He was advised to take out £4850 to totally clear them. Before he had been paying £68 per week just to not incur further debt. Now he is paying £35 per week and his debts will be cleared in 3 years.

Members who have difficulty borrowing money elsewhere

An HIV-positive member applied and was granted a loan for home improvements so that his partner could move in with him to care for him. He was looking for a short term loan as, once his partner moved in, they would be better off financially.

Members with no credit rating or previous banking history

A pensioner had always had his pension paid into his wife's account since they retired, and his wife had managed their finances but, sadly, she passed away. He couldn't even open a Post Office account as he did not have sufficient proof of ID. He was being chased by the DWP to open an account so he could receive his pension and benefits. He opened an account with us. We gave him a Prepaid VISA card and showed him how to use it, so now he can manage his money “for the first time” as he said.
