Ways to pay

You can pay for their Annual Bus Ticket two ways:

  1. You can pay the discounted price in one go. To arrange your annual ticket, send an email to, call us on 0300 303 3188 or visit us at our head office in Hove Town Hall or one of our help points across the county. Please ensure you have the money available in your savings account with us to cover the full cost of the ticket.
  2. If you cannot afford to pay upfront, then you can apply for a loan to cover the cost - see Applying for a Loan section below.

What you need to know about our loans....

We want to be honest with you - so here are some of the rules that apply to our loans :

  • If you fail to make payments on your loan at any time during the agreed term, your bus ticket will be cancelled and further use will be stopped.
  • We follow a strict ethical lending policy.
  • We will only lend if the applicant can afford to pay the loan repayments
  • We do not arrangement fees. There are no hidden charges.
  • We need to see all requested documents before we can make a decision
  • In some cases (subject to your personal circumstances), we will ask that a member saves with us for a minimum of 2 months, before applying for a loan. In this case, you will need to save a minimum of £125 and so you can then apply for up to four times what you have saved (subject to acceptance).
  • Please be aware that the maximum loan period for a bus pass loan is 12 months.


Our Bus Pass loan will enable you to save money on your travel to and from work and school etc. as well as for pleasure. All of our loans are also a way of building a healthier credit history. If you believe in ''Keeping It Local'' - we are the ethical, local, Not-For-Profit alternative.

Each loan application is assessed individually by a member of our team. We cannot lend to everyone - each loan is assessed on its own merits. We take all information into account when making decisions.

However, we do ask that you send us the required documentation to support your application via email, to ensure that we can get on with processing your loan application.


Refunds of SAVER tickets purchased on ''the key'' on tickets of twelve months' duration will be considered by Brighton & Hove Bus Company, upon written request confirming the key smartcard number, by email to The amount refunded will be calculated based on the length of validity left on the ticket at the date the ticket is terminated. Part or whole weeks of use will be charged at the prevailing price of the weekly, monthly or three-monthly SAVER ticket as appropriate and all refunds are subject to a £10 administration charge. The remainder will be refunded.
